What is a 'baseline'?

A baseline is a snapshot view of all people and teams at a point of time, to be used during the planning process.

The baseline includes:

• Who was allocated to which demand team.

• What supply team the members came from.

Let’s take an example of demand team Squad A, on Jan 1st when we hit the 'calculate baseline' button, there were:

• 1 x PO

• 1 x BA

• 3 x Engineers

On Jan 5th, one of the Engineers left the team. In Directory we will see in real time that the team FTE is now reduced to 4 but when we go into Planner, the baseline will still state 5 FTE. This is because the baseline holds the snapshot of the team composition as of Jan 1st.

The baseline will be updated to reflect these changes only if we recalculate baseline.
